Born in Torrence and raised in the Sacramento area, Karen is a California native through-and-through. She takes much of her inspiration from the California countryside and the glorious imagery that confronts her on a daily basis. Karen's passions include painting, acting, singing and fine California wines.

Karen's art is definitely influenced by her range of study as well. "Over the years I have studies in numerous fields including massage therapy and animal health technology, but the arts are what I always return to. They are what call to me," she shared with us. Karen's paintings are often allegorical in nature, creating a place where the onlooker would like to be - a sort of spiritual rest stop.

Travel is another aspect of Karen's life that has had significant influence on her art. She has traveled in the British Isles, getting in touch with her Irish roots, and, more recently, to Paris. "As an artist, I think it was pretty much in my life contract with God that I visit there at least once in my life. Le Musee d'Orsay was a drool-fest for me," Karen recalls.

In addition to painting, Karen's artistic outlets include acting, both on stage and screen. Her range on stage has included a range from Shakespearean to pop murder-mysteries, and her television roles have included roles on House and a couple of small movies. Additionally, she often portrays Mary, Queen of Scots at various renaissance fairs throughout the state.
